Quilon Law Library is founded in 2017 as a unit of Quilon Legal Aid Charitable Trust, Reg. No. 64/2004 for the Law enthusiasts primarily to develop a legally well-informed society. It has been a long-cherished dream of enlightened citizens of this ancient and growing city of Kerala. It is designed to suit the legal needs of the law professional and public irrespective of gender, caste, creed and religion.  It is stationed in the 1st Floor of Booster Pump House, Near Civil Station, Anandavalleeswaram, Kollam.

Administration & Governance

This section gives you a brief description of the governing body, its duties and responsibilities and its relationship with library staff. Quilon Law library is a unit of QLACT and it shall be governed by the trust through a DIRECTOR and a four-member team to assist him. They are elected by the general body of the trust in its annual general body meeting for a period of 5 years. After the completion of the tenure, they can be re-elected.

Aims and Objectives of Quilon Law Library

  • For developing a legally well-informed society.
  • To enhance legal literacy, thereby making people aware of their rights and duties.
  • To empower them for seeking legal remedies, if rights are violated.
  • To ensure availability and accessibility to legal knowledge through valuable and rare books, other publications and electronic media particularly for legal practitioners and professionals.
  • To promote professionalism and competence among advocates.
  • To help the junior legal practitioners for career enhancement.
  • To prepare aspirants for judicial service examinations.
  • To organize workshops, seminars and discussions on issues of concern to the society.
  • To set up a modern digital Law Library.

An Appeal for Financial Support

Quilon Law Library, a unit of The Quilon Legal Aid Charitable Trust is designed to suit the legal needs of the law professionals and public irrespective of gender, caste, creed and religion. One of the major activities of Quilon Legal Aid Charitable Trust was to provide legal awareness through legal literacy program for the students of high schools and higher secondary schools across the civil district of Kollam, Kerala. For the last thirteen years, we have been organising legal literacy programs covering more than 12000 students of which the majority are girls. Our survey shows that this program made them well-disciplined in exercising their rights, duties and obligations.

In the second phase, we started providing further enrichment through reading and reflection. Our new venture is this Law library with a wide range of books, journals and periodicals both in print and digital forms will enhance further learning.

We are sure that this project will ensure a just society through their right consciousness and right relationship. Quilon Law Library also aims at developing a legally well-informed society and empowers the weaker sections for seeking legal remedies if rights are violated. We organise conscientization programs on current issues and hold workshops, seminars and discussions on issues concerning to the society. We provide legal counselling and free legal aid to the weaker sections of the society. Also, we give free library membership and other assistance to the law students of financially backward community. Further, it promotes professionalism and competency among advocates and extend a lot of help to the junior practitioners for career enhancement and prepares aspirants for judicial service examination.
